FSU Admissions and Academics. Over 12,000 students enroll at FSU. The first Ferris class in 1884 had 15 students, and the University still has a ratio of one instructor for every 15 students. Classes are taught at all levels by professional teachers, not graduate assistants. Students study in more than 170 different educational programs, including doctorates, master's, bachelor's, and associate degrees. Seven of Ferris's colleges are based in Big Rapids, including Allied Health Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Business, Education and Human Services, Optometry, Pharmacy and Technology. [Top]
Ferris Campus Life. FSU is a cultural center of Big Rapids, Michigan, and just a leisurely walk away from Quality Inn & Suites. Students, visitors, and community members alike take advantage of the art galleries, environmental learning center, and theater offerings. Approximately 220 student organizations are active on campus, encompassing everything from the Chess Club to Men's and Women's Rugby; Bulldog Radio to the Juggling Club; and the Dead Poet's Society to the Paintball Club. The Bulldogs men’s teams include basketball, football (NCAA Division II), cross-country, golf, hockey, tennis, and track and field. Women will find solid opportunities in basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.
